What to Expect at Your First Colonic Session

Before You Arrive

Your first colonic session starts before you walk through the door. In the 24 hours leading up to your appointment, focus on hydration. Drink plenty of water β€” not excessive amounts, just consistent intake throughout the day. Eat lightly for two to three hours before your session. Avoid heavy meals, fried foods, alcohol, and carbonated beverages on the day of your appointment.

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. There is no need for any special preparation beyond that.

Arriving at the Studio

When you arrive at SoCal Colonics, you will enter a private, calm space β€” not a medical office or a busy spa. There is no waiting room full of other clients. Your appointment time is yours alone.

Jenna will greet you, show you the space, and have you fill out a short health intake form. This covers your medical history, current medications, and any digestive concerns. The screening exists to protect you β€” there are certain conditions where colon hydrotherapy is not appropriate, and your therapist needs to know about them.

The Consultation

For first-time clients, we build in extra time for education. Jenna will explain exactly how the closed system works, what you will feel, and what happens with the equipment. She will show you the single-use disposable speculum and tubing that will be used for your session β€” still sealed in packaging.

This is your time to ask every question you have. How does the water flow? What if I feel uncomfortable? What will I see? Nothing is off limits, and nothing is a dumb question. The goal is for you to feel informed and in control before anything begins.

During the Session

You will change into a gown and lie comfortably on the treatment table. Jenna will gently insert the disposable speculum β€” this takes a few seconds and most clients describe it as a brief, mild sensation.

Once the session begins, warm filtered water flows into the colon in a controlled, gentle manner. The closed system means water and waste move through sealed tubing β€” there is no mess, no open exposure, and minimal odor. You remain covered and comfortable throughout.

You may feel mild pressure, similar to the urge to use the restroom. Some clients feel brief cramping as water reaches areas with more buildup, but this passes quickly as waste releases. Jenna adjusts the water flow to your comfort level and checks in with you frequently.

The time on the table is typically 30 to 45 minutes. Most first-time clients are surprised by how comfortable and uneventful the experience is.

After the Session

When the session is complete, Jenna will remove the speculum and you will have access to a private restroom. Take your time β€” there is no rush to leave. You may continue to release waste for a few minutes after the session ends, which is completely normal.

Before you go, Jenna will give you personalized aftercare guidance: what to eat, what to avoid, how to hydrate, and what you might notice in the hours and days ahead. She will also suggest timing for a follow-up session if you are interested, but there is never any pressure to commit.

How You Will Likely Feel

Most clients leave their first session feeling lighter, less bloated, and more energized. Some feel a calm, clear-headed sensation they describe as similar to after a deep massage or a good night of sleep. A few clients feel slightly tired β€” this is normal and passes quickly.

In the days following your first colonic, pay attention to your digestion. Many clients notice improvements in regularity, reduced bloating, and better appetite awareness.
