Here are answers to the most common questions we hear at SoCal Colonics.
Every body is different, so this information is general and does not replace
medical advice from your doctor.
Colon hydrotherapy is a gentle cleansing of the large intestine using
filtered, temperature-controlled water. At SoCal Colonics we use a
closed system, which allows water in and waste out through a tube,
while you remain comfortably covered the entire time.
Our studio is calm, private and appointment-only. You work one-on-one
with a certified colon hydrotherapist, medical-grade closed equipment,
single-use disposables and a gentle, educational approach from check-in
to checkout.
When performed by a trained professional using a modern closed system
and proper screening, colon hydrotherapy is generally considered safe
for many healthy adults. We review your health history first and may
recommend you speak with your doctor if you have medical conditions
or recent surgeries.
We use a closed colon hydrotherapy system. Water and waste move
through a tube in a closed circuit, which helps control odor, protect
your privacy and allow the therapist to monitor pressure and flow
for your comfort.
Plan on about 60–75 minutes in the studio. The time on the table is
usually 30–45 minutes, with the rest devoted to intake, explanation,
getting you settled and after-care instructions so you never feel rushed.
Most clients describe the session as strange at first but not painful.
You may feel cramping or pressure as the colon contracts to release
waste—similar to a bowel movement. We use a gentle flow and coach you
through breathing and relaxation the entire time.
We usually recommend hydrating well the day before, avoiding very
heavy or greasy meals, and limiting alcohol. If your doctor has given
you specific instructions, please follow those first. We’ll send
simple prep guidelines when you book.
Wear comfortable, easy-to-change clothing—think leggings, sweats or
loose pants and a top. You’ll be privately undressed from the waist
down during the session and draped with linens for modesty.
It depends on your goals, digestion and lifestyle. Some clients book
a single session as a reset, while others prefer a short series or
occasional maintenance. Your therapist can discuss a plan that fits
your body and what your doctor recommends.
Many clients report feeling lighter and less bloated after a session,
especially if they struggle with sluggish digestion. Colon
hydrotherapy is not a cure for medical conditions and should not
replace care from your physician, but it may be a helpful complement
for some people.
People with certain health concerns—such as recent colon or abdominal
surgery, severe hemorrhoids, uncontrolled hypertension, active
inflammatory bowel disease, kidney failure, or pregnancy—may be
advised to avoid colon hydrotherapy. We always recommend checking
with your healthcare provider first.
Yes. Sessions are one-on-one in a private room. You are draped for
modesty, the equipment is discreet, and we explain every step so you
never feel exposed or rushed.
After intake, you’ll change in private and lie comfortably on the
treatment table. A small disposable speculum is gently inserted, and
warm filtered water flows in cycles while your therapist massages
the abdomen and guides you through releases. When the session is
complete you’ll have time in the restroom and then review after-care.
Most clients feel comfortable driving and returning to normal
activities after their session. A few people prefer a quieter rest
of the day. We suggest planning light meals, staying hydrated and
listening to your body.
Some people feel temporarily tired, chilled, gassy or need extra
restroom trips for a short time after their session. These effects
are usually mild and pass quickly. If you ever feel unwell or have
medical concerns, contact your healthcare provider right away.
Frequency depends on your health, goals and your provider’s advice.
Some people schedule a short series over several weeks, while
others come in seasonally. We can discuss options, but we always
encourage you to follow your doctor’s recommendations first.
We do not bill insurance directly. Many clients use HSA or FSA cards
for services; check with your plan for eligibility. Payment is due
at the time of service, and we can provide a receipt upon request.
Yes. We regularly see clients from Irvine, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach,
Huntington Beach, Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo and all across Orange
County and surrounding areas. If you are in driving distance, you’re
welcome here.
Colon hydrotherapy may be an option if you are generally healthy and
want support with digestion, regularity or feeling lighter. The best
first step is to talk with your healthcare provider and then schedule
a call with us to review your health history and questions.
You can book online through our scheduling link, call the studio
directly, or send a message through our contact form. If you’re not
sure whether a session is appropriate, we’re happy to answer
questions before you commit to an appointment.
